Installation Instructions
- Safely raise and support the vehicle. Drain differential fluid from the Super 8.8in IRS housing.
- Remove the rear axle shafts and disconnect the driveshaft from the differential pinion flange.
- Remove the differential carrier from the housing. Mark bearing caps for reassembly in original positions.
- Press off original carrier bearings using a bearing puller. Install new Timken carrier bearings from the CK F8.8-SUPER using a press.
- Remove the pinion nut and pinion flange. Drive out the old pinion from the housing.
- Remove old pinion bearing races with a brass punch. Install new races from the CK F8.8-SUPER fully seated in their bores.
- Press new pinion bearings onto the pinion as required for your differential setup.
- Install the new crush sleeve from the kit. Set pinion depth using the super shim kit as required to achieve the correct gear pattern.
- Install the new pinion seal from the CK F8.8-SUPER. Install pinion flange and new pinion nut. Torque to manufacturer specification while checking pinion rotating torque.
- Install the carrier with new carrier bearing shims from the kit. Verify backlash and gear contact pattern. Torque bearing caps to specification.
- Reinstall differential cover, fill with correct differential fluid to the proper level, and reinstall driveshaft and axle shafts. Lower vehicle.
