Installation Instructions
- Safely raise and support the vehicle. Drain differential fluid from the Ford 8.8in housing.
- Remove the differential cover. Remove carrier bearing caps, marking their positions for reassembly.
- Remove the differential carrier from the housing.
- Press off original carrier bearings. Install new Timken carrier bearings from the CK F8.8 using a press.
- Install new carrier bearing races from the CK F8.8 into the housing bores, fully seated.
- Install the carrier into the housing. Use the shim kit from the CK F8.8 to adjust backlash to manufacturer specification.
- Verify gear contact pattern with marking compound. Adjust shims as needed.
- Reinstall bearing caps in original positions and torque to specification.
- Reinstall differential cover with new gasket or RTV. Fill with correct Ford-spec differential fluid to the proper level. Lower vehicle.
