Yukon Hardcore Locking Hub Set for Dana 44 in 1978 and Down GM and 1978-1992 Ford, 19 Spline, Part YHC70006

The Yukon Gear YHC70006 Hardcore Locking Hub set delivers all-steel manual hub engagement for Dana 44 front differentials found in 1978 and earlier GM half and three-quarter ton trucks as well as 1978-1992 Ford Bronco, F-150, and F-250 Dana 44 applications. The YHC70006 features Chrome-Moly internal gears, a low-profile all-steel bezel, and a proprietary friction-reducing coating that extends service life in demanding off-road and towing use. The hub defaults to locked during use and engages or disengages in just one-third of a turn. A Limited Lifetime warranty is included against manufacturer defects.

Installation Instructions

  1. Raise and support the front of the vehicle on jack stands and remove the front wheels.
  2. Remove the existing locking or free-wheeling hubs by extracting the face retaining screws.
  3. Clean the spindle end and axle stub shaft thoroughly and inspect for wear.
  4. Verify 19-spline count on the stub shaft before proceeding with YHC70006 installation.
  5. If using a spin-free conversion, install the 2.5mm spacers included with the YHC70006 per the kit instructions.
  6. Thread the spindle nut onto the spindle and torque to the vehicle service manual specification.
  7. Slide the inner hub body onto the stub shaft splines and seat it fully.
  8. Install the retaining snap ring or clip to secure the inner body.
  9. Place the outer hub cap assembly over the inner body and fasten the retaining screws to specification.
  10. Repeat on the opposite side, reinstall wheels, and road-test in both 2WD and 4WD.
