Full Carbon Fiber Replacement Front Lip for the Ferrari 488
This front lip replaces the painted factory lower front spoiler on the Ferrari 488 with a fully exposed carbon fiber panel. Part 01.31.001 is laid up in a plain twill weave that matches the carbon trim Ferrari fits from the factory, and the forged carbon option gives a marbled, non directional pattern instead. Both versions are cured in an autoclave, sealed under a hardened UV clear coat, and use the original mounting tabs and fastener locations so nothing on the bumper needs to be modified.

FAQ
Does this replace the whole front bumper or only the lower lip?Only the lower lip section is replaced. The main bumper skin, grilles and lights stay on the car.
Will the weave match the carbon trim my car already has?The twill option uses the same plain weave direction and gloss level as Ferrari factory carbon parts, so it sits alongside existing carbon trim without looking mismatched. The forged option is deliberately different.
Is any drilling or trimming needed?No. The panel is moulded from the factory lip, so the existing fastener points and locating tabs are reproduced in the same positions.
Can this be painted instead of left exposed?It arrives as a finished clear coated carbon panel and is intended to be shown. Painting over the weave defeats the purpose of the part.
Does the same lip fit the Spider as well as the coupe?Yes. The lower front bumper is shared between the GTB and the Spider, so one panel covers both.
How is the surface cared for once it is on the car?Wash it with a pH neutral soap and protect it with a wax, sealant or clear film. Paint correction compounds should be kept off the clear coat over the weave.
What is the practical difference between twill and forged carbon?Twill shows a repeating diagonal weave produced from woven cloth. Forged carbon is compression moulded from chopped strand, which gives a random marbled figure across the surface.
Should a shop handle the installation?The panel bolts up with hand tools, but a body shop or detailer is worth using because the bumper has to be supported and the panel aligned before the fasteners are tightened.
Does the lip change the ride height or ground clearance?It reproduces the factory profile, so the clearance under the nose is unchanged compared with the original lip.
Installation Instructions
- Park on level ground, let the car cool, and lift the front so there is room to work under the bumper.
- Remove the front underbody tray fasteners that pass into the lower edge of the factory lip.
- Release the fasteners and clips along the lip flange, working from the centre outward.
- Ease the factory lip away from the bumper, keeping the locating tabs intact for reference.
- Dry fit the carbon lip and confirm every tab and fastener hole lines up before any hardware is tightened.
- Start the centre fasteners first, then work outward so the panel pulls up evenly against the bumper.
- Refit the underbody tray fasteners and torque everything gently to avoid crushing the laminate.
- Lower the car, check the gap along the bumper joint from both sides, and clean the surface before driving.
