Carbon Fiber Rear Tail Light Surrounds for the Ferrari 488
These surrounds replace the painted trim rings that frame the round rear lights on the Ferrari 488 with exposed carbon fiber. Part AP.FER.488.02 is a pre-preg laminate cured in an autoclave and sealed under a UV resistant gloss clear coat, moulded from the factory part so it seats into the original tail light housing with no cutting or drilling. The set covers both sides of the car and the change is fully reversible.

The 488 GTB and the 488 Spider share the rear light housing, so one set covers both. The 488 Pista and Pista Spider use a different tail light design and are not covered by this set.

FAQ
Do these replace the tail lights themselves?No. The lights stay on the car. Only the trim ring that frames each light is replaced, so the lamps, lenses and wiring are untouched.
Is this one piece or a pair?Two pieces are supplied, shaped for the left and right apertures, along with the mounting hardware for both sides.
Will they fit a Pista?No. The Pista and Pista Spider use a different rear light arrangement, so this set is limited to the GTB and the Spider.
Does the Spider need a different part from the coupe?No. The rear light housing is shared between the two body styles, so the same set fits either car.
Can the original trim be put back on later?Yes. The surrounds mount at the factory locations and the original pieces are not modified, so the change can be reversed.
What is the practical difference between the woven and forged options?The woven option uses carbon cloth and shows a regular repeating weave across the surface. Forged carbon is compression moulded from chopped strand and shows a random marbled figure with no repeating pattern.
Do they arrive ready to fit or do they need finishing?They arrive clear coated and ready to install. No paint, lacquer or additional sealing is needed.
How should the surface be looked after?Rinse road grit away first, then wash with a pH neutral soap and protect the clear coat with a wax, sealant or clear film. Abrasive polish should be kept off the weave.
Is a body shop needed?The set locates on the factory mounting points, but the rear light area has to be opened up carefully, so a shop or an experienced installer is the safer choice.
Installation Instructions
- Park on level ground, switch off the ignition and let the rear panel cool before starting.
- Photograph the rear light area so every fastener position and the routing of any harness is recorded.
- Release the fasteners retaining the tail light assembly and ease the lamp forward far enough to reach the trim ring.
- Disconnect the lamp connector only if it is needed for access, supporting the lamp so no load sits on the wiring.
- Remove the original trim ring from the housing and keep its fixings together for reuse.
- Clean the mounting surface and remove any residue left behind by the original fixings.
- Dry fit the carbon surround and confirm the aperture lines up with the lamp and the outer edge follows the body line.
- Secure the surround at the factory locations with the supplied hardware, tightening gently so the laminate is not crushed.
- Refit the lamp, reconnect it, check every lighting function, then repeat the sequence on the other side.
