The standard TL used a detuned version of the J-series V6 with automatic transmission. The Type-S offered more aggressive cam timing, higher compression, a sportier suspension tune, and a standard six-speed manual on some model years, producing 305-306 horsepower versus the standard TL's 258-280 horsepower depending on generation.

What generations did the Acura TL come in?

The TL was produced from 1999 to 2014 across three main generations: the UA5/UA6 (1999-2003 and 2004-2008), the UA8/UA9 (2009-2014), and the Type-S variants available across the third and fourth generations. The TL was replaced by the TLX in 2015.
