UMI Driveshaft Safety Loops

The listed UMI references are safety loops for the specified 1964–1972 GM A-body application. A correctly installed loop is intended to help contain a failed shaft in its supported location. Review mounting position and clearance with the actual shaft and chassis.

Confirm the event’s current requirements and the exact product instructions for the build. A safety loop does not support a center bearing, correct driveline vibration or replace inspection of the shaft and joints.

JXB Center-Bearing Carrier Upgrades

JXB references address the carrier around the center support bearing on supported multi-piece driveshafts. Compare chassis and transmission variants: Audi B8 manual and automatic references, B9 applications and different large-chassis arrangements are separately specified.

Dodge Charger/Challenger/300, Durango/Grand Cherokee and Toyota Supra references also require their exact shaft configuration. Review the retained bearing, carrier and selected bushing arrangement. A carrier upgrade and replacement of a damaged bearing are different service decisions.

Lockdown Parts and Carrier-Bearing Kits

PERRIN’s Subaru driveshaft lockdown addresses its supported mounting arrangement. The Fabtech heavy-duty carrier-bearing kit has its own suspension/application requirements and contents. Compare the exact parts being retained or replaced.

Choose the supported isolation and mounting setup for the vehicle’s intended use. A stiffer support can change transmitted vibration, so do not select every carrier/lockdown as an automatic cure for any clunk or noise. Inspect joints, mounts, bearing condition and shaft alignment.

Haltech Speed-Trigger Collar

The Haltech eight-magnet split collar supplies a target for a supported driveshaft-speed sensing system. Match its 2.125-inch/53.98 mm inside diameter and the required sensor/control arrangement. It is not a driveshaft containment loop or a bearing support.
