How often should a supercharger belt be replaced?

Supercharger drive belts on factory supercharged vehicles should be inspected at every service interval and replaced according to the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, typically every 30,000 to 60,000 miles depending on the vehicle and supercharger type. Vehicles with modified boost pressure or upgraded pulleys may require more frequent belt inspection and replacement due to the increased load on the belt drive system.

What causes supercharger belt slip or failure?

Supercharger belt slip is commonly caused by worn belt material reducing friction coefficient, incorrect belt tension from a worn tensioner, oil or coolant contamination on the belt or pulleys, or a belt that is too long for the pulley configuration after an overdrive pulley upgrade. Upgrading the tensioner and running a fresh belt together when changing pulleys helps prevent slip under high boost conditions.
