Why Pivot Washers Matter
The bushing pivot washers in a Camburg tubular UCA sit on either side of the polyurethane pivot bushings along the through bolt. They distribute clamping load evenly across the bushing face, prevent direct metal-to-metal contact, and allow the bushing to rotate correctly as the suspension cycles. Worn, scored, or missing pivot washers cause uneven bushing wear, binding, and accelerated deterioration of the bushing itself. Replacing them at rebuild time is cheap insurance that extends the service life of your entire bushing assembly.
When to Replace Your Pivot Washers
Use this pivot washer kit any time you rebuild your Camburg tubular UCAs, replace your polyurethane bushings, or service the pivot sleeves. If the washers show scoring, corrosion pitting, or deformation from overtorque, replace them. Camburg recommends greasing the polyurethane bushings every 5,000 to 8,000 miles or two to three times per year depending on use, and that service interval is an ideal time to inspect pivot washer condition.
Installation Notes
Pivot washers install on both faces of each polyurethane bushing along the UCA through bolt. Four washers go on each arm, for eight total per pair. Apply bushing grease to the washer faces that contact the bushing before assembly. Torque the M14 through bolt to 85 ft-lbs using red Loctite on the nyloc nut threads per Camburg's installation specification. Do not reuse a nyloc nut that has been removed.
