This kit is not intended for forced induction applications. If your BMW is turbocharged or supercharged, or if you are planning forced induction in the future, the FX300 series or higher is recommended for your build.

The 03CM3-HD00-SK is a vehicle-specific design for these BMW E90 and E46 chassis, not a universal fitment adapted to fit.

Installation Instructions

Professional installation by a qualified transmission technician is recommended. The following steps outline the general procedure for replacing the clutch assembly on the applicable BMW models.

  1. Preparation: Safely raise and support the vehicle. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Gather all necessary tools including a transmission jack, flywheel holding tool compatible with your BMW, and a torque wrench.
  2. Transmission removal: Disconnect the driveshaft at the transmission flange. Disconnect the shift linkage, clutch slave cylinder hydraulic line, and all electrical connectors from the transmission. Support the transmission with a transmission jack, remove the bell housing bolts per BMW torque specifications, and lower the transmission from the vehicle.
  3. Old clutch removal: With the transmission removed, use a flywheel holding tool to prevent rotation. Loosen the pressure plate bolts in a star pattern gradually to release spring pressure evenly. Remove the pressure plate, clutch disc, and throwout bearing assembly.

  5. New flywheel installation: Install the Clutch Masters single-mass steel flywheel onto the crankshaft flange. Apply Loctite to the flywheel bolts and torque to 88 ft-lbs in a star pattern.
  6. Pilot bearing installation: Press or seat the new pilot bearing from the kit into the crankshaft center bore.
  7. Clutch disc and pressure plate installation: Insert the alignment tool through the clutch disc hub and into the pilot bearing to center the disc. Position the disc against the flywheel with the transmission side facing correctly (markings typically indicate the correct orientation). Place the pressure plate over the disc and start all bolts by hand. Torque pressure plate bolts to 26 ft-lbs in a star pattern, tightening in gradual passes to seat evenly. Remove the alignment tool.
  8. Throwout bearing installation: Install the new throwout bearing onto the transmission input shaft fork or hydraulic sleeve per your specific BMW setup.
  9. Transmission reinstallation: Carefully guide the transmission into position, aligning the input shaft with the clutch disc hub. Torque bell housing bolts to BMW specifications (typically 35 ft-lbs for grade 8.8 bolts, 47 ft-lbs for grade 10.9). Torque guide tube bolts to 13 ft-lbs and slave cylinder to 16 ft-lbs.
  10. Reconnect components: Reinstall the driveshaft, shift linkage, and all electrical connections. Reconnect the clutch hydraulic line and bleed the clutch hydraulic system if opened.
  11. Break-in procedure: Perform a proper break-in by making 10 to 15 moderate starts from a stop, allowing the clutch to cool between cycles. Avoid aggressive launches or slipping for the first 500 miles.
