The FOX is the Performance Elite Series 2.5 Coilover Reservoir Shock Pair for the 2007-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, including the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited. Developed from FOX off-road race shocks and engineered for bolt-on truck fitment, the 883-06-164 delivers 2.5 to 3 inches of front lift with a remote reservoir design that separates shock oil from high-pressure nitrogen for consistent damping across rough terrain, graded dirt, and highway driving. The pair is sold as a front left and right set.
The DSC (Dual Speed Compression) adjuster built into each reservoir allows independent control of low-speed and high-speed compression without tools, letting the driver dial in ride quality for daily use or increase compression stiffness for towing and off-road runs. An upper control arm is required for installation at full 2.5 to 3 inch lift height.

Does the remote reservoir affect installation clearance?

Installation Instructions
- Raise and support the truck on jack stands at a safe working height. Remove front wheels on both sides.
- Disconnect any front sway bar end links, ABS sensor wiring, and brake line brackets that are attached to the factory shock or strut tower.
- Remove the factory front coilover or strut assembly from the upper mount and the lower bar pin mount.
- Install the aftermarket upper control arm per the UCA manufacturer's instructions before installing the FOX coilover.
- Insert the FOX coilover into the upper mount location and hand-tighten the upper mounting hardware.
- Connect the bar pin lower mount and torque to the vehicle manufacturer's specification.
- Mount the remote reservoir bracket to the frame or provided mounting location and route the reservoir hose clear of all moving components.
- Torque all upper mounting hardware to specification.
- Reinstall ABS sensor wiring, brake line brackets, and sway bar end links.
- Reinstall wheels and lower the vehicle.
- Set DSC adjuster to mid-range on both low-speed and high-speed dials as a starting point.
- Perform a front alignment after installation. Road-test and adjust DSC settings to preference.
