Race-Proven Rear Stopping Power for the Mid-Engine C8 Z51 Platform
Hawk Performance's HPX compound was engineered specifically for the autocross and club-racing environment where smooth, predictable brake torque matters as much as raw stopping force. Part number HB927C.568 brings that same validated friction technology to the rear axle of the 2020 and 2021 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z51, a platform already equipped with Brembo hardware from the factory. The HPX compound is not street-rated and is intended exclusively for track and motorsports use.
Key Features
- HPX compound code "C" optimized for autocross and road-course applications
- Optimal temperature range: 100 to 600 degrees F; full operating range: 100 to 700 degrees F
- Clean modulation and predictable smooth initial bite for precise threshold braking
- Low torque output matched to the rear bias requirements of HB927C.568 on the C8 Z51
- Validated through Hawk Performance dynamometer and field testing programs
- Not compatible with carbon ceramic rotors; designed for iron or steel rotors only
- Motorsport pads do not include shims race-use configuration
- Direct fitment replacement for the factory Brembo rear caliper on 2020-2021 Corvette C8 Z51
What's Included
- One set of Hawk HPX rear brake pads (HB927C.568) for the 2020-2021 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z51
Installation Instructions
- Raise the vehicle safely on jackstands and remove the rear wheels.
- Remove the caliper slide pin bolts and swing the caliper free of the rotor do not let it hang by the brake line.
- Slide the old HB927C.568-compatible pads out of the caliper carrier and clean the pad contact points.
- Compress the rear caliper piston(s) using a piston wind-back tool as required by the C8 Z51 electronic parking brake system.
- Seat the new HB927C.568 HPX pads in the carrier, reinstall the caliper, and torque the slide pin bolts to factory specification.
- Reinstall wheels and pump the brake pedal until firm before moving the vehicle.
- Perform a proper bed-in procedure on track before full-load braking: six to ten moderate slow-downs from 60 mph to 15 mph, followed by two to three harder stops. Allow the brakes to cool fully between sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is HB927C.568 a direct bolt-on for the factory Brembo rear calipers on the C8 Z51?
Yes. Hawk engineered HB927C.568 to fit the OEM rear Brembo caliper bracket on the 2020 and 2021 Corvette C8 Z51 without modification.
Can I use these pads on a C8 without the Z51 package?
No. The Z51 package uses Brembo calipers with a different pad shape. Non-Z51 C8 variants require a different part number.
Are the HPX pads in HB927C.568 safe for daily street driving?
No. The HPX compound requires heat to reach proper operating range and is not suitable for street use. Use only at sanctioned track events.
What is the difference between HPX and HP Plus for the C8 Z51?
HP Plus operates at lower temperatures (300 to 600 degrees F) and is suitable for autocross and track days where the car may return to the street. HPX is a purer motorsports compound with a broader high-temp range designed for sustained race conditions.
Do I need to replace the rear rotors when installing HB927C.568?
Not necessarily, but Hawk recommends inspecting rotor thickness and surface condition. Rotors worn below minimum thickness or heavily grooved should be replaced before installing new race pads.
Will HB927C.568 activate a low-pad warning light?
These are motorsports pads and do not include electronic wear sensors. The OEM wear indicator connector will need to be bypassed or a compatible sensor used.
Is a bed-in procedure required for HB927C.568?
Yes, and it is critical. HPX pads must be properly heat-cycled on track before full-load braking. Skipping bed-in can result in uneven pad transfer and reduced performance.
Are carbon ceramic rotors compatible with HB927C.568?
No. Hawk HPX pads are designed exclusively for iron and steel rotors. Carbon ceramic rotor damage may result from using iron-rotor compounds.
