Install Instructions

Warm the engine briefly to improve oil drainage, then shut off and allow to cool enough to safely work. Drain the engine oil per standard oil change procedure. Locate the oil filter housing cap on the top of the OM642 engine. Remove the 36mm cap using a socket wrench, being careful not to drop the old filter element into the housing. Remove the old oil filter cartridge. Install the K&N HP-7028 into the filter housing. Replace the housing O-ring with a new one (O-ring not included, available from Mercedes-Benz or aftermarket sources). Reinstall the filter housing cap and torque to the manufacturer specification. Refill the engine with fresh oil of the correct grade and quantity per Mercedes-Benz OM642 specifications. Start the engine and check for leaks at the filter housing.
