Radiator Support Bushings - C5 Isolator | 1997-2004 Corvette
Radiator isolator bushings are parts that hold the radiator in the vehicle in place while the vehicle is in motion. If they fail, the radiator can be damaged over time and harm neighboring parts, as well. If the radiator is damaged and not repaired quickly, it can lead to engine warp, overheating, and excess oil burn up. The 71717 Prothane Suspension Radiator Isolator Bushings provide a better grip for the 1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette's radiator and can help prevent potential problems before they happen. Since these bushings are made out of polyurethane, they provide more stability for a vehicle's radiator than normal factory-installed parts.
What Happens when old Isolators Fail?
The radiator is needed to help regulate the temperature of the engine especially if you are driving this corvette at high speeds, increasing the heat of the engine. If the radiator is loose, it will rattle around and hit other neighboring parts. If it is damaged or cracked, the vehicle will start to overheat. When the radiator is unable to transfer coolant to the engine, it causes the engine to overheat which can warp the cylinder heads, burn up too much oil, or can even catch your vehicle on fire in extreme cases!
