VEHICLE FITMENT
2007 - 2021 Toyota Tundra
Whether it’s to get more clearance for off-roading or to simply give your rig a new look, adding a lift kit or leveling system is a popular upgrade for Jeeps, Ford Broncos and trucks. Installing a lift or leveling kit is a job that a DIYer with a little know-how can tackle. Before grabbing your tool kit, check out these tips from Rancho® that will help the process go a little smoother.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- Read the installation instructions thoroughly before starting.
- Make sure you have all the tools on the list. On occasion, the installation may require a unique tool or a tool you may not own. Your local auto store may have a loaner program that you can take advantage of.
- Before you install the system on your vehicle, take time to clean the undercarriage. Mud and dirt under the vehicle can slow down the installation.
- Spray all bolts with some penetrating spray. Often these bolts have been on for years and it can be tough to break the rust bond that has formed.
- Wear eye and hand protection when necessary. Dirt, oil and sharp objects can cause injuries.
- You will get dirty and greasy – dress for that. Wear solid shoes or boots (no flip-flops) – you don’t want anything heavy to slip and hit your feet.
- Take your time. Often you will start on the front. And one side might take HOURS, but once you install the first side, the second side will hopefully go much faster.
- Once you’re done, it is important to torque the hardware while the vehicle suspension is loaded. Refer to the instructions for more information.
- Get an alignment – you want everything to be in spec. Check the instructions for any specifications; if no specs are provided, follow the OE recommendations.
RANCHO LIFT KITS AND LEVELING SYSTEMS
Ready to install a lift kit or leveling system on your Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Gladiator, Ford Bronco or truck? Rancho has a lift kit or leveling system for your vehicle. A Rancho lift kit can give you extra clearance for navigating obstacles on the trail and give your vehicle a more aggressive stance while a Rancho leveling system will help reduce factory rake and level out your truck or SUV’s stance.
Leveling Kits
Leveling kits raise the front of a truck or SUV to match the height of the rear, eliminating the factory rake that most manufacturers build in for payload compensation. Beyond the cleaner stance, a leveled vehicle gains additional front tire clearance for larger wheel and tire upgrades without a full suspension lift. Popular Upgrades Best-selling leveling kit options include aluminum billet spacer leveling kits for Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, and RAM 1500, strut extension leveling kits for independent front suspension trucks that avoid disturbing the factory strut, and leveling kit and shock combos that replace the factory strut unit with a longer shock and spacer for proper spring travel and ride quality. Will a leveling kit affect my truck's ride quality? A properly installed spacer leveling kit adds minimal weight and does not dramatically change spring rate, so most drivers find ride quality is maintained or slightly improved due to the more level attitude. However, leveling ki...

Suspension
Aftermarket suspension systems improve handling, ride quality, and ride height adjustment beyond what the factory suspension provides. From lowering springs and coilover kits for sport handling to lift kits and leveling kits for truck and SUV off-road capability, quality suspension components transform how a vehicle rides and handles. Popular Suspension Upgrades Popular suspension upgrades include coilover kits for adjustable ride height and damping, sport lowering springs for improved handling and reduced body roll, performance shock absorbers and strut assemblies, sway bar and end link upgrade kits, subframe brace kits, and complete suspension packages for lifted trucks and off-road SUVs. Alignment kits including camber bolts and camber arms are also frequently ordered after ride height changes. What is the difference between coilovers and lowering springs? Coilovers are complete shock and spring assemblies with adjustable ride height set by threading the spring perch on the shock...
