Restore Precise Steering Feel to Your 1978-1988 GM G-Body With a Complete Bolt-In Linkage Kit

Worn steering linkage is one of the most common causes of vague, imprecise steering on 1978-1988 GM G-Body vehicles. Built to OEM dimensions for a direct bolt-in fit, every component in the 11329570 kit is manufactured to premium quality standards and made in the USA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the Ridetech 11329570 kit include a pitman arm?

A: No. The 11329570 kit includes the idler arm, center link, inner and outer tie rods, and billet tie rod adjusters. The pitman arm is not included and typically does not need replacement unless visibly worn or damaged.

Q: Is a wheel alignment required after installing the 11329570?

A: Yes. Any time tie rod ends or adjusters are replaced, a full front-end alignment is required to set toe correctly. Do not skip the alignment — improper toe causes rapid tire wear.

Q: Will this kit fit my G-Body if it has been lowered or has aftermarket control arms?

A: The 11329570 is built to OEM dimensions. It is compatible with stock-height G-Body builds. Compatibility with significantly lowered suspensions or aftermarket tubular control arms should be confirmed with Ridetech before ordering.

Q: What G-Body models does the 11329570 fit?

A: The 11329570 fits 1978-1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1978-1983 Chevrolet Malibu, 1978-1987 Chevrolet El Camino, 1978-1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, 1978-1987 Pontiac Grand Prix, 1978-1987 Buick Regal, and 1987 Buick Grand National.

Q: Do the billet tie rod adjusters replace the factory sleeves?

A: Yes. The billet tie rod adjusters replace the factory stamped steel adjustment sleeves. They provide a cleaner appearance and allow precise toe adjustment.

Q: Is this kit made in the USA?

A: Yes. The Ridetech 11329570 is made in the USA.

Q: What is the warranty on the Ridetech 11329570?

A: The 11329570 is covered under Ridetech's standard limited manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, use of the vehicle for performance driving or on a track does not void the warranty for defects in the product itself.

Q: Does this kit require any special tools to install?

A: Standard hand tools are sufficient for most of the installation. A pickle fork or tie rod end separator tool is needed to disconnect the existing tie rod ends and idler arm from the steering knuckle and center link. A torque wrench is required for final fastener torque.

Installation Overview

  1. Raise the front of the vehicle and support on jackstands. Remove front wheels for access.
  2. Using a pickle fork or tie rod separator, disconnect both outer tie rod ends from the steering knuckles.
  3. Loosen the tie rod adjusters and count the number of turns to remove the outer tie rods. Record this number to replicate during installation for a rough toe starting point.
  4. Disconnect both inner tie rod ends from the center link.
  5. Disconnect the idler arm from the center link and from the frame bracket.
  6. Remove the center link from the pitman arm.
  7. Install the new Ridetech idler arm to the frame bracket. Torque to specification.
  8. Install the new center link onto the pitman arm and idler arm.
  9. Thread the new inner tie rod ends into the billet adjusters the same number of turns recorded during removal.
  10. Connect inner tie rod ends to the center link. Torque castle nuts and install cotter pins.
  11. Thread outer tie rod ends into adjusters and connect to steering knuckles. Torque and install cotter pins.
  12. Reinstall wheels, lower the vehicle, and schedule a full front-end alignment before driving.

Control Arms

Control Arms

Control arms are the key suspension linkages that connect the wheel hub and knuckle assembly to the vehicle frame, controlling wheel travel through both compression and droop cycles. Worn OEM control arms with loose ball joints or deteriorated bushings cause vague steering, tire wear, and handling inconsistency that only go away with replacement or upgrade.Popular UpgradesTubular steel upper control arms for lifted trucks and SUVs are the most popular upgrade in the control arm category, correcting the geometry compromised by a suspension lift and restoring proper caster angle and ball joint centering. Adjustable upper control arms allow alignment angles like caster and camber to be dialed in precisely after a lift or lowering modification. Replacement lower control arms with polyurethane or solid aluminum bushings improve response and longevity compared to worn OEM rubber mounts. Why do I need new control arms after a lift kit?A suspension lift changes the angle at which the OEM upp...
