Fix Your Lifted Ram 1500 Alignment With Whiteline Front Upper Control Arms

When you lift your Ram 1500, the factory upper control arms compromise your alignment geometry, causing premature ball joint wear, reduced caster, poor handling, and accelerated tire wear. The Whiteline KTA322 front upper control arms solve all of that in a single bolt-on kit. Engineered specifically for the 2011-2022 Ram 1500 DS platform, these arms restore correct suspension geometry for lifts between 30mm and 70mm (approximately 1.25 to 2.75 inches), delivering up to 3.5 degrees of caster correction and up to 1.5 degrees of negative camber recovery. The Whiteline KTA322 replaces both front upper control arms with precision-engineered assemblies built around GIIRO maintenance-free bushing technology, so you get a factory-quiet ride with performance-grade geometry correction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Whiteline KTA322 work with a 2-inch leveling kit on my Ram 1500?

Yes. The KTA322 is engineered for lifts between 30mm and 70mm, which covers a standard 2-inch lift or leveling kit. Installing these arms at that lift height restores proper caster geometry and prevents the ball joint bind and camber issues that factory arms cause when the vehicle is raised.

Do I need an alignment after installing the KTA322 upper control arms?

Yes, a full four-wheel alignment is required after installation. The KTA322 corrects your alignment geometry, but the final caster and camber settings need to be dialed in by an alignment shop after the arms are torqued down at ride height.

Does the KTA322 fit both 4WD and 2WD Ram 1500?

The KTA322 is designed for the Ram 1500 DS platform including 4WD applications where lifted alignment correction is most critical. Verify your specific configuration against Whiteline's fitment guide before ordering.

What is GIIRO bushing technology and why does it matter?

GIIRO is Whiteline's proprietary maintenance-free bushing design. Unlike traditional polyurethane bushings that require periodic greasing, GIIRO bushings are self-lubricating and retain their performance without maintenance. They also deliver OEM-level NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) isolation so your ride quality stays comfortable on and off the trail.

Are the ball joints included with the KTA322?

Yes. The Whiteline KTA322 arms come with new ball joints pre-installed. This makes the KTA322 a complete upper control arm replacement, not just a bushing upgrade, and eliminates the need to source or press in separate ball joints.

How long does it take to install the Whiteline KTA322?

Whiteline rates installation at approximately 3 hours with proper tools. The arms bolt directly to the factory mounting points, so no cutting, drilling, or fabrication is required. A floor jack, jack stands, 21mm socket and wrench set, and a torque wrench are the primary tools needed.

Will the KTA322 correct death wobble on my lifted Ram 1500?

Corrected caster geometry from the KTA322 addresses one of the key contributing factors to death wobble and shimmy in lifted trucks. While the control arms alone may not resolve all causes, restoring proper caster angle significantly improves high-speed stability and reduces the conditions that allow shimmy to develop.

What is the warranty on the Whiteline KTA322?

Whiteline covers the KTA322 under a limited 3-year / 60,000-mile warranty against manufacturing defects.

Do I need to replace both sides or just one?

The KTA322 comes as a pair including both driver and passenger arms. Whiteline recommends replacing both sides simultaneously to maintain balanced suspension geometry and equal caster correction across the front axle.

Installation Instructions

  1. Safely raise and support the vehicle on jack stands with the wheels removed.
  2. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor harness clip from the factory upper control arm.
  3. Break loose and remove the upper ball joint nut using a 21mm socket and wrench.
  4. Use a pry bar to separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle, then support the knuckle.
  5. Remove the front and rear upper control arm mounting bolts using a 21mm ratchet and wrench.
  6. Extract the factory upper control arm from the chassis mount.
  7. Install the Whiteline KTA322 arm into the factory mounting location and start both bolts by hand.
  8. Raise the lower control arm to approximate ride height and torque the arm mounting bolts to factory specification (approximately 130 ft-lb).
  9. Insert the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle and torque the ball joint nut to specification (approximately 40 ft-lb), then apply the required torque angle.
  10. Reconnect the wheel speed sensor harness clip.
  11. Reinstall wheels and torque lug nuts to spec (approximately 130 ft-lb) in a cross pattern.
  12. Repeat for the opposite side.
  13. Have a full four-wheel alignment performed before driving.

Control Arms

Control Arms

Control arms are the key suspension linkages that connect the wheel hub and knuckle assembly to the vehicle frame, controlling wheel travel through both compression and droop cycles. Worn OEM control arms with loose ball joints or deteriorated bushings cause vague steering, tire wear, and handling inconsistency that only go away with replacement or upgrade.Popular UpgradesTubular steel upper control arms for lifted trucks and SUVs are the most popular upgrade in the control arm category, correcting the geometry compromised by a suspension lift and restoring proper caster angle and ball joint centering. Adjustable upper control arms allow alignment angles like caster and camber to be dialed in precisely after a lift or lowering modification. Replacement lower control arms with polyurethane or solid aluminum bushings improve response and longevity compared to worn OEM rubber mounts. Why do I need new control arms after a lift kit?A suspension lift changes the angle at which the OEM upp...

Suspension

Aftermarket suspension systems improve handling, ride quality, and ride height adjustment beyond what the factory suspension provides. From lowering springs and coilover kits for sport handling to lift kits and leveling kits for truck and SUV off-road capability, quality suspension components transform how a vehicle rides and handles. Popular Suspension Upgrades Popular suspension upgrades include coilover kits for adjustable ride height and damping, sport lowering springs for improved handling and reduced body roll, performance shock absorbers and strut assemblies, sway bar and end link upgrade kits, subframe brace kits, and complete suspension packages for lifted trucks and off-road SUVs. Alignment kits including camber bolts and camber arms are also frequently ordered after ride height changes. What is the difference between coilovers and lowering springs? Coilovers are complete shock and spring assemblies with adjustable ride height set by threading the spring perch on the shock...
