XClutch Professional 8-Piece Steel ClutchPro Alignment Tool Kit

This is an 8-piece steel clutch alignment tool set used to center a clutch disc on the flywheel pilot bearing during clutch installation. It holds the disc in place while the pressure plate is bolted down, preventing the disc from shifting and making it easier to slide the transmission input shaft through the splines afterward.

What It Fits

Universal application. The kit includes eight different tool sizes to match a wide range of pilot bearing and clutch disc bore diameters, covering most passenger car and light truck clutch jobs rather than one specific vehicle.

What It Does

Each tool in the set centers the clutch disc against the pilot bearing or pilot bore so the disc, pressure plate, and flywheel stay aligned while everything is torqued down. Using the correct size for the application reduces the chance of bending the friction disc or misaligning the pressure plate during installation.

Construction

The tools are machined from steel for rigidity under repeated clutch installs. The kit ships in a set of 8 pieces sized to cover a range of common bore and pilot bearing diameters.

What's Included

  • 8 steel clutch alignment tools in graduated sizes

Compatibility Limits

Select the tool size that matches the pilot bearing bore and clutch disc hub diameter on the specific vehicle being serviced. Not every size in the set will fit every application; confirm the correct size against the disc and pilot bearing before use.

Installation

  1. Remove the transmission and old clutch assembly per the vehicle's factory service procedure.
  2. Clean the flywheel surface and inspect the pilot bearing or pilot bore.
  3. Select the alignment tool size that matches the pilot bearing bore and clutch disc hub.
  4. Insert the alignment tool through the clutch disc hub and into the pilot bearing or pilot bore.
  5. Position the clutch disc against the flywheel with the correct side facing out, then install the pressure plate over the alignment tool.
  6. Torque the pressure plate bolts in the sequence and to the specification listed in the applicable factory service information.
  7. Remove the alignment tool once the pressure plate is fully torqued, then reinstall the transmission.

FAQ

What is this tool used for?

It centers a clutch disc against the flywheel pilot bearing so the pressure plate can be bolted down without the disc shifting out of alignment.

Does this fit my specific car?

It is a universal 8-piece set covering a range of common bore and pilot bearing sizes, not a single vehicle-specific tool. Match the correct size in the set to the disc hub and pilot bearing on the vehicle being serviced.

What material are the tools made from?

Steel, for durability through repeated clutch installations.

Can I reuse this tool for future clutch jobs?

Yes. It is a reusable shop tool, not a one-time-use item, and can be used on any vehicle whose pilot bearing bore and disc hub match one of the eight included sizes.

Do I still need a clutch alignment tool if my kit includes one?

No. Many clutch kits already include a properly sized alignment tool for that specific application; this set is useful when a kit does not include one or when servicing multiple different vehicles.

Will this replace a dealer-specific alignment tool?

For most common bore and pilot bearing sizes, yes. Extremely small or unusual bore diameters outside the 8 included sizes may still require a dedicated tool.

Does using this tool affect clutch alignment accuracy?

No. When the correct size is selected, it holds the disc concentric to the pilot bearing so alignment is consistent with a properly installed clutch.

Is a torque spec included for the pressure plate bolts?

No. Pressure plate bolt torque is vehicle-specific and should be taken from the applicable factory service information for the vehicle being serviced.
