How does an exhaust valve controller work?

An exhaust valve controller sends an electronic signal to the motorized valve in the exhaust system, opening or closing it based on driver input. When open, the bypass valve allows exhaust to flow unrestricted past the muffler for a louder tone. When closed, the full muffler is engaged for quieter operation.

Can I add a valve controller to a non-active exhaust?

Yes. If you install an aftermarket exhaust cutout valve, a separate controller module can operate it. Many universal exhaust valve controller kits are designed to work with electric cutout valves regardless of the exhaust brand, as long as the valve is the correct voltage and configuration.
